Moong dal halwa


Ingredients for Moong dal halwa

Ghee                                     75 grams

Sugar                                     100 grams

Milk                                      250 ml

Cashew or mixed dry fruits ( chopped)      50 grams

Cardamom powder                                      1/4 tbsp

How to make moong dal halwa

Put the soaked moong dal in grinding jar. Close the lid ( do not add water ). Coarsely grind it ( do not make smooth paste ). Open the jar and check grind it moong dal paste is ready, take it out from the grinding jar.


Turn on the flame and heat a pan on medium flame add ghee let it melt or heat. Reduce the flame to low. Add moong dal paste keep stirring mix the moong dal paste and ghee properly. ( Roast the moong dal paste on low-medium flame, till it turns light golden ( it takes approx 15-17 minutes) keep stirring.


After 15 minutes, dal is roasted properly add sugar mix it and cook it for another 6-8 minutes on low flame add milk mix it well. Cook it for 8-10 minutes on low medium flame. Keep stirring increase the flame to medium add cardamom powder , mix it add cashew, mix it. Cook it for 2-3 minutes on medium flame to make it dry, keep stirring to avoid the lumps.


Turn off the flame add little ghee (optional) mix it well. Moong dal halwa is ready. Take it out in a serving bowl.Garnish it with your favourite dry fruits. Ready to serve.
