Modak Recipe; How to make modak

 Ingredients for Modak

Rice flour                                   1 cup

Row coconut                              1 cup (grated)

Jaggery (gur)                              3/4 cup (crushed)

Desi ghee                                   1 tbsp

Poppy seeds                               1 tbsp

Salt                                            2 pinch

Cashew nuts                              2 tbsp

Raisins                                      1 tbsp

Green cardamon                        4-5

How to make modak 

Firstly knead the rice flour for making modak . Heat a pan and 1 cup of water in any utensil and then bring it in use add salt and 1 tbsp of ghee in water. Cover the water so that it gets boiled quickly water has started boiling turn off the gas. Add rice flour in the water now mix rice flour in water nicely. Cover the dough for 5 minutes and knead it meanwhile prepare stuffing for the modak's.

Add poppy seeds in heated pan. Stir constantly and roast for 1-1.5 minutes. Take it out a bowl. Now add jaggery in the pan. Let the jaggery melt nicely. Jaggery is melted now add grated coconut to it. Cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes. Add chopped cashew nuts, poppy seeds and raisins mix all ingredients nicely.

Turn off the gas and add cardamom powder into mix it. Let the stuffng get frigid now knead the dough and make it soft. Take out flour in plate and mash it with spoon. Knead it with your hands moment it gets cool. Grease your hands with little ghee and knead it until it become soft. Dough is ready take out stuffing in bowl. So that it gets frigid quickly.

Take little amount of mixture ( lemon size ) in you hands and make a round boll. Flatten it with your palms and fingers. Keep the corners thin and thick from center. Dig like for filling stuffing. Now place 1 tbsp stuffing in it. Now give it a shape of flower. Now seal it from all sides.

Modak is ready place it a plate like wise make all modak. Now we will cook the modak for this take any utensil in which we can steam the modak's easily add 1.5 cups of water into it place it on flame for heating. When water starts boiling. 

We will steam the modak's place a sieve on top and cover it for steaming the modak. Let the water boil grease the sieve with ghee. Place the modak's at some distance in the sieve water has started boiling. Now steam the modak's place the sieve on the top. Cook for 10-12 minutes ( you can also use steamer) turn off the  gas modak are cooked properly now add appear shiny.

Modak have become frigid serve them in a plate. Mouth watering and tempting modak are ready.
